Cambodia is a country located on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia, its official language is Khmer. Cambodia has a system of many rare animal species living in the world, in which, the most prominent types are tigers, elephants, and giant bulls.
Cambodia is one of the new and the most attractive tourist destinations in the world. The attractive tourist spots of Cambodia are Angkor Wat and the temples of Angkor in Siem Reap Province, as well as the compelling cultural sites in the capital of Phnom Penh and beaches in Sihanoukville province and some other tourism services.
#2.Angkor Wat – Angkor Thom
Both Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom are in Siem Reap province.
Angkor Wat area is nearly 6 km in circumference and has an area of about 200 hectares, the highest point is the main temple’s top tower, with an elevation of 65 m. Designed with the entrance located in the west, Angkor Wat gives people entering the temple a feeling of inhibition with the image of a massive temple outstanding in the sunlight.
In addition to that feeling, Angkor Wat is also impressive with the Apsara reliefs on most walls or in floral and animal motifs which are cared carefully on the steps of the wall.
Angkor Thom was built in the late twelfth century by King Jayavarman VII. The entire citadel has an area of about 9 km. Angkor Thom is built in the Bayon style reflected in the scale, the main material of laterite, people’s face and image of Naga in each tower. Besides the feeling of magnificent, the architecture of Angkor Thom also brings tourists with a feeling which is more gentle and comfortable than Angkor Wat.
#4.Silver Pagoda and Royal Palace of Cambodia
It sounds like that you have to travel a lot between the places, but actually, Gold Pagoda- Silver Pagoda Temple is within Cambodia Royal Palace, in the city of Phnom Penh. Cambodia Royal Palace in Phnom Penh is a complex of buildings which were built more than a century ago to serve the accommodation, living off the monarchs and his family and the foreign visitors. It was also the place of the throne, the diplomatic etiquette and royal ceremonies.
Coming to Cambodia Royal palace, you will have the opportunity to witness the area where the King saw the officials in the court, the place where the King read books or the place where the solemn events are organized… Especially, if the dark blue flag is pulled down, you will have the opportunity to observe the whereabouts of the contemporary king.
Leaving the palace, turning to the right, you will come to the Silver Pagoda. There are many people mistakenly believe the name of the Gold Pagoda- Silver Pagoda implies two different temples, in fact, there is only one. At Silver Pagoda, you will put your barefoot on silver pieces weighing more than 1kg lined as a tile or admire a series of giant statues created from the jewel, see a wealth of gems or diamond of great size studded on statues and objects.
The fare for visit is 6 USD/ person. It is opened from 8:00 – 11:00 am and from 2:00 – 5:00 pm daily. Visiting Cambodia Royal palace, you are not allowed to wear shorts, sleeveless shirts, slippers.
#5.Tonle Sap Lake
Cambodia’s Tonle Sap lake is Southeast Asia’s largest lake and has a great influence on this country. Some travel companies do not mention the Lake on the list of destinations. However, coming to Cambodia without visiting the Great Lake, you almost lose one-third the meaning of the trip.

Sihanoukville Sea has light and relatively calm waves because of the arc shape of the beach. In particular, the beaches here have no rocks, coral shreds or (snail) shells on the shore. As one of the most ideal beaches and almost the only beach in Cambodia; however, Sihanoukville is not only for the rich but anyone can visit the beach here and choose the services depending on financial ability.
In Sihanoukville, apart from swimming, you can explore the Ream National Park of over 21,000 ha, Victory Hill of 60m high or climb the 132m high Sihanouk Mountain to see the panoramic view of the coastal city.
#7.The Killing Fields
With human bones scattered on the ground, and the boards such as “The Grave of 100 infants and mothers,” “Tomb of the 450 cadavers”, “Tomb of the 166 people (cadavers) without head,” “Tomb of 87 cadavers without hands, legs “…, the shelves displaying more than 8,000 skulls, the Killing Fields brings dreary feature and make visitors creepy. #8.Oudong ancient capital
Oudong ancient capital is one of the most valuable historical monuments in Cambodia, this landmark is situated between Kandal and Kampong Chhang provinces. This is the witness of the flourished era of Cambodia from the 17th century to the 19th century. It is also known as Udong of Chendla civilization.
Oudong ancient capital is also called Oudong Meanchey, in which Oudong means noble and Meanchey means victory. From 1618 to 1866, this was the home of so many deposed kings who moved from Longvek old capital due to Thai invasion. The main mountains here runs along the direction from the southeast to the northeast, the middle is lower and like a saddle.
Some Cambodians believe that it is like snake god Naga, who always protect people. Along the road No. 5 leading into Oudong, there is the signage to the village of Silver, which things for the king and the Noble are made. Nearby is a picnic tent area for residents and visitors; this area is often very crowded with tourists who come here to rest in the dense forests at weekend.
#9.Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum
“Tuol Sleng”, the prison called Democratic Kampuchea (commonly known as the Khmer Rouge), is the cruelest prison marking the genocide of the Khmer Rouge. After the country was liberated, Toul Sleng Prison became the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum. This is the place preserving a lot of materials, documents, thousands of photos of the victims, many of which still are on display as well as the artifacts found after the Khmer Rouge was controlled in January 1979.
Currently, Toul Seng Genocide Museum daily welcomes hundreds of visitors from all over the world to witness the ruins and maniacal crimes of the Khmer Rouge and learn about a bloody period in the history of Cambodia.
#10.Koh Rong Samloem Island-the “real” paradise on earth
Referring to Cambodia tourism, probably, you will first only think of ancient and mysterious Angkor Wat, but perhaps many people have not thought about visiting beaches or islands in Cambodia. In fact, Cambodia has many beautiful beaches which are no less beautiful than in Thailand or Indonesia, even, the beaches remain the pristine natural beauty than other locations. Koh Rong Samloem Island is a great suggestion.
With the color of emerald, sea water is always so clear that we can see the bottom and see fish swimming there. If you enjoy the gentle ocean or do not want to move a lot, you should choose the resort on Sunrise beach, where is located right at the dock on the island. Additionally, if you prefer the excitement and big waves, you can go to Sunset beach.
